The Furi knife was developed by a company called Furitechnics, which is an Australian-based engineering development company with a mission to produce unique solutions for professionals and serious amateur cooks. The company was founded by mechanical engineer Mark Henry in Brisbane in July 1996. Mark Henry’s vision was to offer chefs new solutions to old problems, by developing innovative products of unbeatable performance and value, for worldwide distribution. The FX and the PRO Furi knife has an innovative exoskeleton forging method that was developed to overcome the hygiene and durability problems found in regular plastic/ wood handles or fashionable metal-handled cutting utensils. The three separate parts are fused into one seamless piece: instead of adding handle parts around a forged tang, the Furi knife handle is the tang. The end result is high-performance cutting: stronger, more durable, and more hygienic than traditional cutting utensils. The vertical “microgrooves” and reverse-wedge shape of the Furi knife handle actively resists your hand slipping forward, even when wet or oily. The handle wedges into the hand, requiring less “squeeze” to perform repetitive cutting tasks, resulting in less fatigue and hand strain than conventional handles. The harder you cut the more the handle of the knife locks into your hand, making it safer and easier to control.
Every Furi knife is made from the finest stainless steel alloys and hardened and tempered for maximum edge retention, ease of sharpening, and toughness.
